Who is RedZebra?
RedZebra Mobile evolved from MeyCom, a leading company in the South African market for the supply and installation of industrial and commercial CCTV systems.

With over two and a half decades’ worth of experience in surveillance, the company had the ideal platform from which to move into mobile imagery.
And so evolved the RedZebra Mobile® suite of image management solutions, suitable for use not only by businesses but by government, police, the military, local councils and the individual user.
RedZebra Mobile solutions have been in development since July 2005.
RedZebra Mobile started out specifically to address the construction industry needs for remotely viewing in real time and recording the progress of buildings from commencement of the construction to their completion.
By utilizing a web browser and a broadband connection to the cameras on the building sites, one was able to view the various cameras which had been strategically located to provide an overview of the buildings.
The original concept may be viewed at Pouring Concrete.
It was soon identified that the system would be far more valuable if the interior of the buildings could be viewed.
The RF Network options for delivering the pictures from the building site to the web were investigated. Mobile Phone Networks were an obvious choice with the added bonus that almost all people own a mobile phone with a camera, existing technology could be used to provide a very cost effective solution. The problem of deployment had been solved, as no hardware onsite, set-up or support is required
It was very quickly realised that RedZebra Mobile® had universal applications which reached as far as the global mobile networks extended.
All that remained was to develop the technology to utilise network and the mobile phone to deliver the pictures to a structured image management system across the Internet. That structured image management system is at the heart of RedZebra Mobile®. This development is now complete with a fully operational system.
There are great number of enhancements and new features and functions which have been identified and are in the process of being developed and implemented.
