News Imagine Cup Competition Results A winner for RedZebra Mobile! 10 July 2008, Paris, France Imagine Cup Competition Results - A winner for RedZebra Mobile®TM! The 2008 Microsoft ® Imagine Cup competition has come and gone and what a success it was! Team Smile, the team RedZebra Mobile ® was one of the sponsors of; both technically and financially, made it to the semi-finals - amongst the top 12 teams in the world. Although they were eliminated in the finals the positive feedback on their product and concept as a whole was very positive. There was also an extra category called the Rural Innovation Award and this was more specialized towards projects benefiting developing nations. Team Smile managed to make the finals for this section, which means they were amongst the top 5 teams in the world for this award. This is a great achievement for the Cape Town based students' team, and RedZebra Mobile is proud to have been involved in their product creation. In RedZebra Mobile's previous news article, "RedZebra Mobile goes to Paris - Microsoft Imagine Cup Competition" it discussed in detail the involvement of the company and how it contributed to Team Smile's system. However, one product, only briefly mentioned was Team Smile's use of the RedZebra Mobile Gallery Widget. This is where RedZebra Mobile not only provided the service of receiving the pictures from their CCTV cameras and various camera phones, but is also provided, via an interface, the ability to quickly review all incoming pictures and then even further view specific picture details with a street-level map and reverse-geocoded address for accurate positioning. This was done with the use of the Gallery Widget. The Gallery Widget is a widget consisting of 2 main views. The first screen is the "Master View", from where the user can see all their various galleries, represented on the screen as the latest image in that gallery. The "Master View" also organises it's galleries in order of the latest gallery to receive an image down to the oldest. When a user clicks on one of the pictures in Master View, that specific gallery will open, showing all the pictures taken. On this page the user can see all their pictures within this gallery and browse them accordingly from most recent to oldest. In addition to this, any image with geographical data attached will have its place of origin indicated on a map alongside the image. This map is provided by viaMichelin Maps and is navigable. This widget was designed for viewing and monitoring purposes, and allows the user to easily browse all their galleries from one very simple portal. It also allows the user to do this from the comfort of their own site, and with little to no code development knowledge. It is ideal for security purposes and managing many galleries all running at the same time. Please find an example of the Gallery Widget interface below:
Master View Each picture represents 1 gallery. Click on the picture and that specific gallery will open, showing all the pictures taken from most recent to the oldest. Below is an example of the geographical data received once in Gallery View and the user clicks on an individual picture to view its content:
Geographical Data The coordinates of the picture are given as well and the map next to the picture displays its location To sign up for this Widget, or find out information on any of our other widgets email: kate@redzebramobile.com |
